My aim is to perform consistently in all three formats: Ojha
Pragyan Ojha, the leading Indian left-arm spinner who wasn't picked for the Asia Cup, today sigh a 'relief' after being named in the 15-member Indian squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka series. India - after almost a two-month break - is scheduled to resume a hectic cricketing calendar with the start of five ODIs and one T20 match against the host Sri Lanka from July 21st onwards.
Comeback man Pragyan Ojha - who had picked up nine wickets in as many matches he played for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 5 - is more "relieved" than being "happy" after making the cut in the 15-member squad.
"My aim is to perform consistently and play in all three formats for a long time," said Ojha after hearing the news of his inclusion in the team, adding, "I have been working very hard for it and I would like to let my performance do the talking for me."
The 25 year old from Hyderabad incidentally played his last ODI against Sri Lanka back in August 2010, in Dambulla.
Along with Ojha, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, fast bowler Umesh Yadav have also returned to the Indian team for the limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Sachin Tendulkar, who played in the CB series in 2011-12 and the Asia Cup, has opted out of the tour.
Ravindra Jadeja, the allrounder, has been dropped for the tour, neither seamer Praveen Kumar got the call. Batsman Rohit Sharma, Manoj Tiwary and leg spinner Rahul Sharma were retained.
India squad: MS Dhoni (Capt) Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli (vice-capt), Gautam Gambhir, R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Ashok Dinda, Suresh Raina, Vinay Kumar, Rohit Sharma, Pragyan Ojha, Ajinkya Rahane, Manoj Tiwary, Rahul Sharma, Zaheer Khan.
