'Always been my dream to represent Mumbai Indians': Dewald Brevis

Read it in Hindi.

“It’s a dream come true”

Of all the things you want to hear in life, this one surely takes the cake. Of all the massive sixes Dewald Brevis must have hit in life, this one’s definitely gone the longest and the deepest in our hearts.

To think of it, it hasn’t even been a year since Brevis sprung into the limelight. Him breaking Shikhar Dhawan’s record for the most runs in an edition of the under-19 World Cup, to him ending up as the Player of the Tournament, to him joining our #OneFamily at the IPL auctions after a fierce bidding war, to him breaking down T20 records with a 57-ball 162 in the CSA T20 Challenge, it’s all been 2022.

We have just over a month as we build up to the inaugural SA20. Brevis will be turning up in for our franchise, the MI Cape Town. And he has high expectations.

“It has always been my dream to represent Mumbai Indians, and now MI Cape Town, and to be able to play on the big stage because the crowds are massive. I really enjoy it,” he was quoted as saying in a press release by the SA20.

“I think this tournament is going to be amazing. All these players coming to South Africa, the cricket is going to be very strong. It is going to be very competitive. People must be ready, because there is going to be lots of fireworks, lots of boundaries, lots of wickets.”

What’s set to be another mini dream-come-true moment for Brevis is the elite company of players he’s set to be around: Kagiso Rabada, Rassie van der Dussen, Liam Livingstone, Rashid Khan, Sam Curran, and now Jofra Archer.

“It’s absolutely amazing!” Brevis said of the prospect. “Who better to pick their brains, and get advice from? I can’t wait to share a dressing room and a field with them.”

He’s himself coming into the season on the back of some piping red hot form. He’s the new property the world has got its eyes on. AND HE’S OURS!

The dream is mutual, Dewald! Our Paltan just cannot wait to have you back in the Blue and Gold.
