Anjuman Islam and Don Bosco High School make it to the final of MI Junior

Anjuman Islam (CST) and Don Bosco High School (Matunga) advanced to the final of the MI Junior Inter-School Cricket Tournament in the Boy's U-16 category, defeating Sharadashram Vidyamandir (Dadar) and IES New English School (Bandra) respectively, here on Thursday.

Batting first, Suyash Unde held the Anjuman innings together with a superb 93 to take their total to 252 in 40 overs in the U-16 semi-final. In reply, Sharadashram went down fighting, scoring a commendable 200, before being bowled out as Chirag Modak claimed 3-39.

In the other U-16 semi-final, Shravan Mhatre’s unbeaten 86 got Don Bosco over the line against IES New English. Chasing 171, Don Bosco were in a spot of bother at 69-3, before Shravan played a blinder to take them through.

In the U-14 category, Swami Vivekanand International School, Borivali knocked out VPMS Vidya Mandir, Dahisar East to advance to the final. Yug Asopa’s brisk 74 led SVIS to a total of 224 in 40 overs. VPMS were then bundled out for 104, with Aarav Malhotra taking 4 for 28.

Elsewhere, in the Girls’ U-15 semis, Trisha Parmar starred for St. Columba School, taking a sensational (6-11) to knock over St.Joseph's Convent High School, Bandra for 26 runs. St. Columba then chased down the miniscule target in just 3.1 overs.

In another semi-final of the same category, Sharadashram Vidyamandir (Dadar) hammered Shishuvan School (Matunga), bundling them out for a paltry 56, thanks to Prisha Deorukhkar's superb 3-8 . Sharadashram then sailed to victory in just 3.1 overs with Ira (27 not out) being the highest scorer.

Riding on brilliant performances from Vedant Gore (52*) and Vedant Gore (3-22), Anjuman Islam, CST registered a 38 run-win over R.R Education Trust (Mulund) in another Boy's U-14 match. Chasing a total of 154 runs, R.R Education Trust were bowled out for 115.
