We are within a month from the start of our World Cup dream that is set to be held across 10 cities in India from October 5 to November 19, 2023.
The Hitman, our skip, our leader, Rohit Sharma, will spearhead a group - narrowed down from the 18-member team currently contesting for silverware in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 - to conquer a third CWC title and end a wait of 12 years for the holy grail in 50-overs cricket.
While Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav are the mainstays of the Indian batting alongside Rohit, the return of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul from their respective rehabilitations on the sidelines will add more depth and competition for batting berths in the playing XI.
Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur are the designated all-rounders. The quartet have the license to make crucial impacts with the bat and ball, and the home support will be eager to see them weave their magic on the pitch.
Jasprit Bumrah, who led the bowling charts at the 2019 Cricket World Cup with 18 wickets in nine games, will join forces with his partners-in-crime Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj in the pace unit, while Kuldeep Yadav will be the face of the spin attack alongside Jadeja and Axar.
We’re back to that word - BELIEVE. Let’s bring it home boys, and let’s paint the world Blue.
