Auction Highlights Through the Years
As we inch closer to the IPL 2022 Auction in Bengaluru on the 12th and 13th of February, the dawn of a new era beckons. New faces will join us. Bearing that in mind, let’s take a look at some of our key signings from the auctions of the yesteryear.
Batters:
Rohit Sharma:
Price - ₹15 CR
The Hitman came back to his hometown in 2011 after 3 prolific seasons for the Deccan Chargers. He has since gone on to become one of the most successful batters and captains in the IPL notching up 4441 runs for us at an average of 31.27, 5 IPL titles, and 2 Champions League titles.
Suryakumar Yadav:
Price - ₹3.2 CR
SKY joined us in 2018 after a spell in 2011-2013 with us as a youngster. Since his return, he has become a key member of the squad scoring 1733 runs for us in just 3 seasons that led him to being retained this year.
Mike Hussey:Price - ₹6.2 CRMr. Cricket joined MI for just a season and even within that managed to accumulate 209 runs for us.
Wicket-keepers:
Ishan Kishan:
Price - ₹6.2 CR
Our pocket dynamite came to us in 2018 and took the league by storm scoring 1133 runs at a strike rate of 138.51. He was a key factor in us winning the title in 2019 and 2020.
Jos Buttler:
Price - ₹3.8 CR
The English electric keeper was with us from 2016-2017 wherein he scored 527 runs at a strike rate of 145.98.
All-rounders:
Kieron Pollard:
Price – 6.3 CR
Our legendary giant joined us back in 2010 and there was no looking back. He has gone on to win countless matches for us scoring 3268 runs, 65 wickets, and 96 catches in the Blue and Gold.
Krunal Pandya:
Price – ₹8.8 CR
In 2018, we used our Right to Match card to get Krunal back with us for a whopping price and he lived up to the hype. Over his tenure with us, he’s scored 1143 runs, taken 51 wickets, and taken us to victory from the jaws of defeat on numerous occasions.
Corey Anderson:
Price - ₹4.5 CR
The Kiwi all-rounder had an injury plagued career with us but even within that, he gave us a memory we can never forget that is the magnificent 95* against the Rajasthan Royals in 2014.
Pacers:
Jasprit Bumrah:
Price - ₹1.2 CR
Our Ace of Pace came to us in 2014 for a fairly high price for a young player. To say he’s lived up to the price would be an understatement. In our ranks, he’s gone on to become the world’s premier fast bowler and will continue to do so with us.
Nathan Coulter Nile:
Price - ₹8 CR
The Aussie speedster has been outstanding in our colours with bat and ball. His bowling at the death, and big hitting from the lower order has won us plenty of matches for us.
Mitchell Johnson:
Price - ₹2.1 CR
The legendary Aussie left arm quick was magnificent for us getting 31 wickets in his time with us. He would attack with the new ball and be miserly at the death which made an ace in the deck alongside Malinga.
Spinners:
Rahul Chahar:
Price - ₹1.9 CR
Rahul joined us as a youngster but went on to make himself an established player in the team. He was our key partnership breaker and did so successfully with 41 wickets against his name.
Bargains:
Hardik Pandya:
Price - ₹10 L
Hardik joined us for his base price as a teenager. He very soon became a pivotal part of our One Family scoring 1476 runs for us with the bat while getting 42 wickets with the ball. He will be dearly missed.
Marco Jansen:
Price - ₹20L
The South African youngster was picked up by us last year and what an amazing prospect he has looked. In the few opportunities he got last season, he managed to get 2 wickets which bodes well for the future.
The stage is set. All the teams are equally equipped monetarily. The fight for the stars is going to be intense. The auction is very nearly upon us. Who would you want to see in the Blue & Gold, Paltan?
