- Shreyas Iyer (105) became just the third Indian to notch back-to-back centuries in ODI World Cups after Rohit Sharma (2019) and Rahul Dravid (1999) and also hit eight sixes in his innings - the most by an Indian in a World Cup innings. Furthermore, Iyer is the first-ever middle-order batter with 500-plus runs (526) in a single World Cup.
- Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer's triple-figure scores today meant this is the second instance (Upul Tharanga & Tillakratne Dilshan - SL vs ENG in 2011 CWC Quarter-final) of two individual hundreds being scored in a World Cup knockout game.
Now, that’s what you call dominance!
A rollercoaster of a second innings, but the Indian bowlers showed their mettle with the ball with Mohammed Shami at the helm of the firing squad. #JustShamiThings
- Mohammed Shami combined with KL Rahul for a double blow to the New Zealand batting in the powerplay. His victims? Devon Conway (13) and Rachin Ravindra (13).
- With the wicket of Kane Williamson (69), Shami became the fastest bowler (17 innings) to take 50 World Cup wickets.
- Shami became the first-ever bowler with three five-wicket hauls in a single World Cup edition, with the scalp of Mitchell (134) in the 46th over.
- Shami emulates Ashish Nehra (6/23 vs ENG - 2003) to take six+ wickets in a World Cup match
- With figures of 7/57, Mohammed Shami registers the best figures by an Indian bowler in One Day Internationals.
