T20WC 2024 | INDvCAN: Let’s beat rain, Canada, and make it 4-0 in the group stage

We’re out of New York, into the southern coast state of Florida, with the opportunity to bow out of America with a winning streak!

Team India, ranked first, and Canada, ranked 23rd on the T20I team rankings, have never faced each other in a T20 international. And although this game doesn’t have a lot at stake from an Indian perspective given that the Men in Blue have already qualified for the Super-8s, Canada have already sprung a surprise against Ireland, and we could be in for a fight.

India, on their part, are on a 3-0 winning run at present and come to a familiar ground where they have triumphed in five, and lost in two of the eight visits. The one remaining game was washed out, and given the kind of weather we have around over the last two days in Florida, we could just be in for another. But this being their first-ever T20WC game here, Rohit Sharma and his men will look to play out an entertaining fixture with style, authority, and experience at the highest level.

Canada, meanwhile, is in a do-or-die situation where a defeat could spell the end of their maiden campaign in a T20 World Cup. Skipper Saad Bin Zafar, Nicholas Kirton and bowler Dilon Heyliger will be the players in focus for the Maple Leafers as they venture out to take on the mighty Indian contingent.
