MI Junior 2025: Deven Yadav’s heroics power Al-Barkat Malik Muhammad Islam English School to victory

In an absolute run-feast, Al-Barkat Malik Muhammad Islam English School (Kurla) edged out General Education Academy (Chembur) as they registered a 4-wicket victory in a Super League match of the MI Junior Interschool Cricket Tournament in Mumbai on Tuesday.

After electing to bat, General Education Academy got off to a dream start as openers Shaurya Patil and Ayush Kumar (24) stitched together a 96-run partnership for the first wicket, with the former scoring a splendid half-century worth 66 runs. Carrying the momentum forward, skipper Aayush Shinde produced a carefully curated innings of 79 runs to propel General Education Academy to a respectable total of 235 runs in their stipulated 40 overs.

In the face of a formidable target of 236 runs, opener Om Bangar ensured a positive start for Al-Barkat Malik Muhammad Islam English School with a promising knock of 65 runs. However, it was the all-round brilliance of Deven Yadav that ensured a memorable win for Al-Barkat Malik Muhammad Islam English School. Having already contributed with 2 crucial wickets in the first innings, Deven played a skillful innings that saw him remain unbeaten on 111 runs to commandeer a thrilling victory for Al-Barkat Malik Muhammad Islam English School with just an over to spare.
