MI @ VHT 2024-25: KL Shrijith-inspired Karnataka crowned champions

After a month of nerve-wracking games and inspiring performances, the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 saw Karnataka emerge as the winners.

The best part? Our rocking wicketkeeper-batter KL Shrijith was a key factor in this success!

His tournament started with a rampaging 150* against Mumbai and was capped off with a match-winning half-century in the final. Paltan ye dekhke bohot khush hua!

Hardik Pandya (Baroda), Deepak Chahar (Rajasthan), Naman Dhir (Punjab) and Ashwani Kumar (Punjab) had also made the knockout rounds. Let’s take a look at how VHT 2024-25 ended ⬇️

Final | 18th January

Cometh the hour, cometh the man! KL Shrijith showcased his class in the final, scoring a dhvadhaar 74-ball 78 as Karnataka posted 348 on the scoreboard. The total proved too steep to chase for even the in-form Karun Nair’s Vidarbha as Aapla Shrijith got his hands on the trophy.

Semi-finals | 15th January

While KL Shrijith was unable to replicate his previous form in the tournament, his team Karnataka still got the better of Haryana in a competitive run chase in the semi-final.

Quarter-finals | 11th and 12th January - KL Shrijith’s Karnataka secured semis berth

Karnataka edged a closely-fought encounter against Baroda to make the semi-finals. Our southpaw added 28 kadak runs in the second half of Karnataka’s 281-run effort, which was enough to beat Baroda by five runs.

Deepak Chahar showcased his 💥 TodFod batting 💥 smashing two fours and three sixes in his 14-ball 31 against Vidarbha. Despite best efforts with the ball, Rajasthan failed to restrict Karun Nair’s juggernaut in VHT 2024-25.

Elsewhere, Naman Dhir and Ashwani Kumar’s Punjab were on the wrong end of the scoreline against Maharashtra. Aapla Naman, however, bowled a gripping spell of 2/29 at a masta economy of 4.14! 👏
