Raina: Hardik will be India’s game-changer
Suresh Raina is convinced Hardik Pandya can be India’s MVP for the upcoming World Cup. Pandya galvanized one and all with his ability to hit the ball the way he does in the recently concluded IPL. Hardik Pandya has his own grace when he strikes the ball - keeps one guessing from where he generates the power to clear the fence. The fastest fifty of IPL 2019 was a piece of evidence for it. Hardik had an inordinate season for Mumbai Indians with both - bat and ball. He became the only Indian to score 400+ runs and take 10+ wickets in a single Indian Premier League season. He ceased the season with 402 runs and 14 wickets to his name.
Suresh Raina has the confidence that if Jr. Pandya replicates his recent IPL form, he could be India’s main man in the tournament. He further went on to say that the all-rounder could go all the way in bagging the Man of the series award.
“He can field and bat well, can bowl 6-7 crucial overs. He can bat anywhere. He needs to get a lot of confidence from the management to express himself. If he can take his IPL confidence to the World Cup, he will be our game-changer,” Raina quoted on a news channel.
Hardik’s aptness to float anywhere in the middle order makes him terminal. He had a remarkable strike rate of above 190 as he helped MI claim their fourth title. He was also the team’s third-highest wicket taker and his contribution with the ball will be a handful at CWC 2019.
“I think he will be the most important player for India in this World Cup. I won’t be surprised if he gets the man of the tournament, should we make the last-four,” Raina concluded.
