Skipper Rohit Sharma attended the final post-match press conference of the season and spoke about the learnings and the positives to take into next year.

“It has been a disappointing season because we didn’t do a lot of things right at the start. You need to build momentum quickly in the Tata IPL. We did not execute our plans well enough and that happens with a new team as they understand their roles. But we did well in the second half,” began Rohit.

“We struggled a bit at the start and were a bit unlucky too. These things happen but we have to come out and try the plans we make. It is a new team and they have different roles in the various teams they play and they take time to adjust. The last six or seven matches with collective performances was a positive to take and you need that to win this tournament. It is a learning for us to take into next season,” he added.

On his own rough form, Rohit reassured us that he will make the adjustments needed to do better.

“I have gone through a bad patch before. I have a lot of cricket left in me and have to think about how best to come back. I will work on improving what I need to do and try my best,” he said.

Some things to reflect on as our season comes to an end. A lot of positives and some great young talent to look forward to, which we sure are will help us have a better time next time around.
