WPL 2023: Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants to play season opener
It’s here. Mark your calendars. From March 4, 2023 to March 26, 2023, it’s time for you to get the Blue and Gold back on.
** Drumrolls ** The Women’s Premier League is all set to roll out, and we, are kicking this off! It’s a Saturday. On the 4th of March. At the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Gujarat Giants vs Mumbai Indians.
Over three weeks, five teams are set to lock horns in a round-robin format where every team plays the other twice. The entire league is set to be held across two grounds in Mumbai – the Brabourne Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium. Much like the IPL seasons, the evening matches are scheduled for 7:30pm IST, while the afternoon games are scheduled for 3:30pm IST.
The teams finishing second and third in the league stage would battle it out in an Eliminator (March 24th, 2023 at DY Patil Stadium), the winner of which would face the team finishing at the top of the table in the final on March 26, 2023 at the Brabourne Stadium.
It’s ironic that today is (February 14, 2023), Valentine’s Day. And it’s only a matter of time before this love turns into red-hot action on the field!
