ZIMvIND 3rd T20I: India’s all-out-attack makes 2-1 look easy

Be it with the bat or ball, Shubman Gill’s Team India aced the challenge on the two-paced pitch at Harare to beat Zimbabwe by 23 runs on Wednesday (July 10, 2024).

Here is a consolidated summary of all that transpired in the third T20I.

First innings: Gill, Gaikwad carry India to an above-par score

It was a rollercoaster of an inning for visitors India as they went from 41/0 after 3 overs to 81/2 in 10.3 overs before ending with 182/4 in 20 overs. Skipper Shubman Gill (66) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (49) ensured the momentum carried on in the game whilst trying to fend off the bowling prowess of Sikandar Raza (2/24) and  Blessing Muzarabani (2/25).

Second innings: Washington's 3-fer and tight fielding keep ZIM in check

An Avesh Khan double and Khaleel Ahmed’s first T20I scalp since 2019 riddled Zimbabwe’s batting early on in their chase as they finished the powerplay with 37/3 on the scoreboard. While Dion Myers (65) tried to keep the fightback alive, Washington Sundar’s triple attack (3/15) in the middle overs all but spelt the end of the road for the hosts. In the end, India walked away with a 23-run win.

Brief scores: India 182/4 (Shubman Gill 66; Sikandar Raza 2/24) BEAT Zimbabwe 159/6 (Dion Myers 65*; Washington Sundar 3/15) BY 23 RUNS.
