MI Junior: National English School, Parag English School, IES High School register win
National English School (Virar), Parag English School (Bhandup), IES High School (Navi Mumbai) and others registered victories in the respective matches in different categories of the ongoing MI Junior Inter-school cricket tournament on Tuesday.
Parth Haldankar (6 for 17) and Dakshi Chaini (4 for 9) ripped through St. Joseph School’s batting to help National English School (Virar) win the MI Junior Boys’ U-14 League match by nine wickets. St Joseph managed to score just 32 runs and National English School chased down the target in just 4.4 overs.
In another game of the same category, Laksh Joglekar’s outstanding performance with the ball (5-6) helped Parag English School (Bhandup) bowl out Ryan International School CBSE (Malad) for an abysmal score of 26. Parag English openers then chased down the target in just 3.1 overs.
Meanwhile, Priyadarshini Singh starred with bat and ball for IES High School (Navi Mumbai) against Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School in the Girls U-15 category. Priyadarshini’s 4-wicket haul (4 for 8) was crucial in bowling out Chatrabhuj Narsee for just 71 runs and then she scored a blistering unbeaten 43 off 19 balls to chase down the target in just 3.4 overs.
The other' Girls U-15 match saw Shishuvan School (Matunga) hammer St. Anne’s Convent School (Vasai) by 10 wickets after they chased the target of 48 runs in just 4 overs without losing any wicket.
Meanwhile, one point each was awarded to St. Mary’s ICSE (Mazgaon) and Sulochanadevi Singhania school (Thane) after a Boy's U-14 match between the two teams got called off due to consent of cops. St. Mary's were 51/7 in 17 overs when the game was called off.
One more game between Balmohan Vidyamandir English Medium (Dadar) and Jamnabai Narsee School (Juhu Vile Parle) in the same category was called off due to protest at Azad Maidan and one point each was awarded to teams. Balmohan Vidyamandir were 110/1 in 22 overs when the match got called off.
Few games in the Boy's U-16 category also suffered the same fate as the matches were not completed.
St. Francis Xavier's School (Kanjur) were 111/5 in 16 overs when their Boy's 16 match against Ryan International School (Kharghar) was abandoned and one point was awarded to each team. On the other hand, St. Xavier’s School (Airoli) were bowled out for 60 in 17.5 overs before their Boy's 16 match against St. Aloysius High School (Nalasopara) was abandoned and one point each was given to both teams.
Riding on Ghodke Devashish's all-round show (80 runs and 3 wickets), Matunga Premier School beat Our lady Perpetual Succour (Chembur) by 106 runs in a Boy's U-14 match. Matunga School scored 209/9 in 39.5 overs and then bowled out Our lady Perpetual Succour for 103 all out in 22.5 overs.
In another Boy's U-14 match, Vibgyor Roots And Rise (Malad) registered a 129 run-win over Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT (Powai) courtesy an impressive half-century (54*) by Arham Jain.
Mannat Joshi's impactful all-round performance (33 runs and 3 wickets) led Amulakh Amichand International School (Matunga) to an 11-run win over Anjuman Islam (Turbe) in a low-scoring Boy's U-14 match.
Elsewhere in a Boy's U-16 game, Sane Guruji English Medium School Dadar and Gokuldham High School (Goregaon) got one point each after their match was abandoned. Sane Guruji English Medium School Dadar were 102/6 in 23 overs when the match was called off.
The other match in the same category featuring Swami Vivekanand International School Kandivali was also abandoned.
