Auto-rickshaw driver offers free travel to essential service providers
Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the authorities to announce a lockdown, essential travelling has become a hindrance due to non-availability of public transport.
In these difficult times, Rupesh Repal from Mumbai has been winning hearts with his heartwarming gesture. The 43-year old auto-rickshaw driver has been providing free transportation to the essential service providers.
The Dombivli resident begins his day from as early as 5 AM. From doctors to policemen, he helps them commute to their destination. Rupesh has also lent out his hands in case of emergency situations. The Kalyan RTO has issued an NOC letter for his vehicle.
Pratip Acharya from Free Press Journal managed to get in touch with him.
I am helping in whatever way I can
Rupesh asserted that this was the least he could do as a tribute to the doctors and civic workers who are risking their lives day-in and day-out.
"This is a tough time we are in and we all need to stand together. Doctors and civic officials don't have frequent means of transportation to reach their destination. So I am helping in whatever way I can."
"The doctors, paramedics and civic workers are risking their lives for us. This is the least one can do in an attempt of conveying them regards."
Money and finances will come only if there is life
With the lockdown, the daily wage worker earnings have come to a standstill. However, Rupesh isn't concerned about it at the moment.
"Money and finances will come only if there is life. Let's not think about money now. I am not thinking about money at all that's why I have been providing voluntary transportation service," he stated.
Mumbai Indians salutes the efforts of Mr. Repal and would like to thank him for his invaluable contribution to the society.
