Beyond borders: Our overseas picks in the past IPL mega auctions
What’s a perfect recipe for a successful side? An amalgamation of Indian superstars and foreign talents, giving it their all towards a common goal!
The overseas player roster forms an integral part of a strategy leading up to the season as the right combination of athletes can do wonders for the team.
… and with the IPL 2025 mega auction just around the corner, there have been a few amendments to the existing rules concerning foreign cricketers.
According to the revised rules, an overseas player who doesn’t register for the upcoming mega auction won’t be allowed to enter his name in the mini-auction for the 2026 campaign.

Moreover, if a foreigner gets picked by a franchise at the mega auction and then decides to make himself unavailable, will be banned for the next two seasons.
Exceptions, however, can be made in a few cases if the home board of the player in question confirms that he is nursing an injury which would rule him out for a certain period.
Talking about our team, the upcoming mega auction will see us form the overseas firepower right from scratch. Here’s a look at the foreign cricketers we previously got in the past mega auctions.
