Chris Lynn: Happy to bat wherever it may be
Chris Lynn was the first cricketer to go under the hammer in last year’s IPL Auction and Mumbai Indians straightaway went for him. Ever since then, there has been a lot of buzz for the explosive batsman.
The 30-year old is renowned for his power-hitting skills which he has proved time and again. His strike rate of 142.88 in T20 cricket makes him a go-to player for any side in the world.
In a conversation with MITV, Lynn shared his thoughts about playing for Mumbai Indians, the opening combination and training with the team.
To play for the No.1 franchise in IPL is really special
Lynnsanity as he’s referred to for his batting exploits, was delighted to be a part of the team setup. The right-handed batsman has displayed phenomenal form in the IPL over the last few years and looked forward to contributing in the MI Blue and Gold.
“Being picked up for any team in the IPL is a privilege but to go to probably the number one franchise in the IPL is something really special. The history speaks for itself; their records speak for themselves; the players speak for themselves. How professional the franchise is, is something I look forward to. This is a new challenge now and I’m excited to hopefully contribute to a couple of wins.”

Happy to bat wherever it may be
Mumbai Indians have some solid top-order batsmen in their ranks and Lynn is aware of the competition he has. The 30-year-old asserted that he is happy to bat in whatever position Head Coach Mahela Jayawardene wants him to.
“Rohit! What a world class player, runs on the board on and off the field. What he has contributed to Mumbai is something special and Quinny has been outstanding with the gloves and the bat in hand. So, if I can whizz in my way somewhere and hopefully do a job, that’s awesome. At the end of the day happy to bat wherever it may be, top order, middle order, wherever Mahela sees me.”
I have got some really good memories in Abu Dhabi
In last year’s T10 tournament at Abu Dhabi, Lynn ended up as the highest run-scorer with 371 runs at an average of 53 which included four fifties. The Australian batsman shared his experience training with Strength and Conditioning Coach, Paul Chapman.
“I have got some really good memories from the T10 tournament last year here, in Abu Dhabi and hopefully reconnect with what worked for me there. Hopefully, put some performances on the board but first and foremost it starts with me gelling with the team. On the training with Chappo, getting some good sweat in the Abu Dhabi heat and earning the right to go out there and score some runs.”
