Friends and neighbours but fierce competitors on the cricket field. This sums up the India-Sri Lanka contests in international cricket. The Asian giants, who have six white-ball World Cups between them, get ready to script another chapter in the fascinating duel with a three-match T20I and ODI series starting on Saturday (July 26).

Mumbai Indians has been home to legendary players across the sea. As we gear up for another battle between the two nations, here is a look at the players from the island nation who have been part of the Blue and Gold riband.

His unbeaten 48-ball 114 against Chennai Super Kings was one for the ages as he rolled back the years with his power-hitting.

With two runs needed to win off the last ball of an IPL final, who would you bet on to restrict the opponent with the ball? Of course, Lasith Malinga. The pacer has given many memorable moments to the Paltan holding his own in crunch situations.

546 international wickets, 195 wickets (IPL and CLT20), the first to 100 T20I wickets and the first to take four wickets in four balls twice in international cricket (2007 - ODIs, 2019 - T20Is), Malinga joined Mumbai Indians after his successful T20 World Cup 2007 stint. In his two stints from 2008 (2008-2017 and 2019-20), the Yorker King played a pivotal role in MI winning four IPL titles.

Our current Bowling Coach’s last-over exploits against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2019, when he defended nine runs including a last-ball wicket, will be remembered by fans for a long time.
