Krunal Pandya: Happy and satisfied to have taken two points

By Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians dished out Chennai Super Kings’ heaviest ever defeat at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk on Friday. MI beat CSK by 46 runs as the hosts failed to chase a target of 156. The match had a lot of positives for MI as skipper Rohit Sharma returned to form with 67 and was declared the Man of the Match. Another positive was Krunal Pandya’s bowling, which saw the left-arm spinner finish with figures of 2 for 7 from three overs.

Krunal chatted with brother Hardik Pandya in a fun interview after the game. The slow left-arm spinner made it clear that he relished bowling on CSK’s pitch. “You feel happy when you come to Chennai because most of the games you play at the Wankhede. So, suddenly when you see these kind of wickets you feel happy about it, you know it will help. Obviously, it’s quite satisfying and obviously we’ve got the two points, so I’m happy,” Krunal told iplt20.com.

He then emphasized on his game-plan on spin-friendly surfaces. “I was just trying to bowl back of a length because I knew that the wicket is helping me. I was just trying to bowl in the right areas and the wicket was helping me, some of them were spinning and some went straight, so yeah,” Krunal said.

The 28-year-old also elaborated on his brilliant ball that went straight through Ambati Rayudu’s defence and rattled his stumps. “You have to remember whenever I spin the ball… the straighter ball which I bowl, that’s my strength. So just before the second ball, I guess that ball spun. So, I guess that was there in the back of his (Ambati Rayudu) mind that you know the ball will spin and it just went straight (instead),” Krunal opined.
