Krunal's over was the turning point: Iqbal Abdulla

By Mumbai Indians

Royal Challengers Bangalore faced Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede stadium. The defending champions MI chased down the target of 171 with 2 overs to spare. Krunal Pandya took the crucial wickets of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the same over to change the context of the game. “Krunal’s over was the turning point. When an important player who is scoring a lot for you gets out then it affects the team,” said Iqbal Abdulla.

RCB made six changes to their team from the last match, looking to register a win against the defending champions. Talking about the changes Abdulla said, “Now it is just the third match of the tournament and captain might have put some thought behind it. So whoever got the chance to play today, like me get to prove themselves.”

The left arm spinner who was playing his first match of this season picked up three wickets for RCB. He was a bit on the expensive end as he conceded 40 runs off his 4 overs. “I have been playing for some years. So when you get hit for a six, how you come back is what matters. One should understand what the mistake, which one made so as to bowl better.”

RCB was going hammer and tongs when Kohli and De Villiers were playing. Looking at the way they were batting it felt as if they will pile up a score well beyond 200 runs, but MI managed to restrict them. Abdulla said, “I don’t think so we put less score on the board. The batsman had done their job and it depended on the bowlers, but credit must be given to Rohit and Pollard who played very well to change the innings.”
