Luke Wood joins MI for IPL 2024 as replacement for injured Behrendorff
England’s left-arm seamer, whose inswingers are a treat to watch, has been roped in to join Mumbai Indians as a replacement player ahead of the IPL 2024 season.
In what’s a bit of unfortunate news, Jason Behrendorff, who returned 14 wickets in 12 games in the previous season of the IPL, and was a core member of the bowling group, has been ruled out of this season owing to an injury.
We’re very excited for Luke though, who comes in on the back of having played around the world in T20 leagues, and having impressed everyone with his all-round skills. His latest exploits came in the Pakistan Super League, where he finished as the highest wicket-taker for Peshawar Zalmi with 12 wickets. He comes in for his base price of INR 50 lakhs.
He’s the winner of the T20 Blast medal two years in a row, oh, and he also has a County Championship hundred under his belt! Welcome to the Blue and Gold, Luke! Can’t wait to see you swing them around wildly at the Wankhede!
