Mahela Jayawardene: We've got a couple of big games coming up
After registering their first win in Dream11 IPL 2020, Mumbai Indians will be travelling to Dubai for their clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The men in Blue and Gold were quite efficient in all three departments on Wednesday against KKR. While Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav helped MI gain momentum with the bat, it was a combined effort from the bowlers.
Head Coach Mahela Jayawardene was elated with MI's performance in the match against KKR at Abu Dhabi. On the second episode of Coach Cam, he shared the four vital moments where MI gained the upper-hand during the KKR game.
A lot of the boys stood up
"I think it was a very important game for us after not being able to cross the line in the first game. It was a complete team performance. I’m very pleased with that. A lot of the boys stood up, put their hands up."
Rohit-Surya partnership
"If I were to say what were the four key moments for this game. The partnership between Surya and Rohit, I think we were one down early. It was a lot of pressure at that time. But those two guys just batted brilliantly, didn’t go into a shell, put the pressure back on the KKR bowlers. They batted with aggression, the tempo was good, positive intent. It was a great partnership. And then just that we kept putting the pressure on."
A solid total in Abu Dhabi thanks to a Hitman masterclass 😉

Captain's knock
"The second important thing is probably Ro’s innings. Ro just batted through, held the innings together, so that the other guys could bat around him. Where probably 160-170 is a par score here, we managed to get that extra 20-30 runs, they’re crucial."

Trent Boult's maiden over
"And then the third moment would be the way we started (with the ball). Just a good maiden over from Boulty, getting back into that game, the second half, which was very very crucial for us. That shows intent, that shows commitment rather than just not when you have a big score, the easiest thing is to let your guard down. But, we didn’t."

What a start from Boult!

Jasprit Bumrah's twin strikes
"And the fourth thing is Bumrah’s over. I thought Boom came back, two big wickets in one over, Russell and Morgan, the two big players for KKR. The way he executed, shows the quality that he has."
💥 Back with a Boom 💥

We've got a couple of big games coming up
"It was a complete team performance, very pleased with that . We’ve got a couple of big games coming up, but we’ve got a few days off. So, recover, go back to the processes, planning and then get back there and try and make sure that we’re consistent. That’s all I can ask from the boys. Be consistent, get through the processes, get the job done."
