MI Junior: Aditya, Siddharth, Umar and others shine for their teams

Aditya Haryan, Siddharth Gupta, Umar Khute and others produced match-winning performances for their respective teams in the ongoing MI junior inter-school cricket tournament on Thursday.

Medium pacer Aditya Haryan demolished Ryan International School (Chembur) with an exceptional 8-wicket haul to help St Mary's High School SSC (Mazgaon) to an impressive 219-run victory in an MI Junior Boys’ U-14 game in Mumbai. 

Batting first, St. Mary’s notched up a satisfactory total of 266 in 40 overs, thanks to centuries by Advait Rahate (116 off 116) and Vansh Padelkar (100* off 108). In response, Ryan International were skittled out for a mere 47 runs, thanks to Aditya’s phenomenal spell.

In another U-14 game, Siddharth Gupta’s stellar knock of 177 off just 101 deliveries guided Ryan International School (Nallasopara) to a commanding 229 victory against St. Anne's Convent School (Vasai).

The St. Anne’s bowlers were belted to all parts of the ground by Siddharth, leading Ryan International to a substantial total of 326 in 40 overs. Umar Khute then starred with the ball for Ryan International, taking 5 wickets for just 17 runs, and restricting St. Anne’s to a paltry 97.

In the U-16 category, Amey More was the star of the day with a stroke-filled 134 for Smt Sulochanadevi Singhania School, which powered them to a staggering total of 431 runs.  Opponents Amulakh Amichand International School (Matunga) were then bundled out for just 74 runs. 

Riding on brilliant bowling performances of Aayudh Mohanty (2-3) and Aarav Srivastava (2-12), Rizvi Springfield High School (Khar) bowled out Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel High School (Mira Road) for 67 runs and then chased the target comfortably with 8 wickets in hand and Pugazh Sundarraj scoring vital 43 not out in a Boy's U-14 match.

Another Boy's U-14 match saw Bombay Scottish, Mahim beat Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School by eight wickets after bowling them out for 112 with the help of Vihaan Sheth superb 3-24. The likes of Kushagra Chawla (47*) and Vihaan Sheth (24*) were the top scorers for Bombay Scottish in the run-chase.

PAWAR PUBLIC SCHOOL BHANDUP won by walkover against ST. ALOYSIUS HIGH SCHOOL (NALASOPARA) in another match of the same category.

Elsewhere, Vikas Singh's impressive (4-29) and Ankit Chavan crucial fifty (50*) led RR Education Trust (Mulund) to eight wicket win over ANJUMAN ISLAM ENGLISH SCHOOL, VASHI in a Boy's U-16 match.

In another U-16 match, Siddhi Shetty (67*) and Hardik Shirude (3-24) powered PODAR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, POWAI CBSE to 10-wicket win over Kendriya Vidyalaya IIT (Powai), who were bowled out for 115.

Meanwhile, Ghorpade Amol's impressive bowling (4-10) led Matunga Premier School to 7-wicket win over Dhirubhai Ambani International School, who were bowled out for just 64 runs in a Boy's U-14 match.

Rehan Mulani's brilliant fifer (5-25) helped IES VN Sule English School Dadar thrash Euro School Airoli by 10 wickets in another Boy's U-14 match.

In another U-14 match, Jash Nayak' sensational 5-2 led VPMS VIDYA MANDIR DAHISAR EAST to nine-wicket win against Sister Nivedita High School, who got bowled out for just 17 runs. On the other hand, Daksh Goti's all-round show (85 runs and 3-1) led RBK Mira Road to 158 run win over Vidya Vikasini ICSE School in another match of the same category.

Riding on brilliant performances by Harshwardhan Barmukh (120), Anish Tambe (3-3) and Arjun Tiwari (3-4), IES New English School, Bandra thrashed N.L Dalmia High School Mira Road by 439 runs in a U-14 match.

In another U-14 match, Yuvraj Chandrus all-round show (3-13 and 44) led Ryan International School (Kharghar) to three-wicket win over St Mary's ICSE Mazgaon.

Swapnik Waghdhare's brilliant century (110) along with superb bowling by Swapnil Gollar (3-10) and Aryan Kadam (3-12) helped Sane Guruji English Medium School Dadar beat JV Parekh International School (Vile Parle) by 205 runs in another Boy's U-14 match.
