MI Junior: Arham, Mehul, Deven and others shine for their teams

Arham Jain, Mehul Mehta, Deven Shinde, Mann Koli and others produced match-winning performances for their respective teams in the ongoing MI junior inter-school cricket tournament on Tuesday.

All-rounder Arham Jain's individual brilliance (5-19 and 55*) led Vibgyor Roots and Rise (Malad) to 8-wicket victory against Sir Cowasjee Jehangir High School (Mumbai Central) in an MI Junior Boys’ U-14 match

Batting first, the Sir Cowasjee batters had no answer to Arham’s skillful off-breaks, bundling out for just 97 runs. Arham then starred with the bat, scoring a quick-fire 55* off 34 balls to steer Vibgyor to victory in just 10.3 overs.

Vibgyor Roots and Rise (Malad) were victorious in the U-16 category as well, defeating Malad rivals Ryan International CBSE by 236 runs. Vibgyor racked up an impressive total of 323, thanks to Mehul Mehta’s excellent knock of 144 off just 100 balls. In response, Ryan International were bowled out for a mere 87 runs.

In another Boy's U-16 match, Deven Shinde (116*) and Mann Koli (5-17) powered IES Secondary School (Mulund) to a dominant 121-run victory against St Mary's High School SSC (Mazgaon).

Deven's unbeaten ton led IES to a total of 234, with Tejas Morey providing ample support from the other end with a lightning 73 off 39 balls. Mann Koli, along with Morey's (2-11) then worked his magic with the ball, taking a brilliant 5-wicket haul to bowl out St Mary's for 113.

Ansh Rana's brilliant fifer (5-3) led Vibgyor High, Airoli to a dominating 10-wicket win over CAMBRIDGE SCHOOL, KANDIVALI EAST, who were bowled out for just 47 runs in a Boy's U-14 match.

In another match of the same category, VIBGYOR High, Goregaon (IGCSE) won by walkover against Vasant Vihar High School, Thane.

RBK Global Bhayandar also won by walkover against UTPAL SANGHAVI GLOBAL SCHOOL, Juhu in another Boy's U-14 match.

Meanwhile, Arnav Gupta's 3-27 helped Don Bosco High School, Matunga bowl out Shishuvan School (Matunga) for just 86 runs in a Boy's U-16 match. In reply, Don Bosco chased the target comfortably by losing just one wicket and with Prasana Jaibahar scoring a vital fifty (50*).

Another Boy's U-16 match saw St. Annes Convent School (Vasai) won by walkover against Ryan International School (Nerul).

Elsewhere, Avadhut Rawool's superb 3-7 led Swami Vivekanand International School to a convincing 10-wicket win over National Kannada, Wadala, who could score just 19 runs while batting first in a Boy's U-14 match.

In another Boy's U-14 match, SABYASACHI MAHAPATRA's brilliant four-fer (4-10) led Vibgyor High, Malad East to a massive 255 run win over Vidya Vikasini ICSE School, Virar, who were bowled out for paltry 37 runs while chasing a total of 293 runs. The likes of SPARSH MASTER (72) and KARTIK BAID (71) were the top-scorers for Vibgyor High team.

On the other hand, R. V. Nerker Secondary won by walkover against SIES, Matunga in a Boy's U-16 match.
