Paras Mhambrey: “MI Junior providing top class facilities to kids so young is truly commendable”

By Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians bowling coach and former India cricketer Paras Mhambrey hailed the tournament for its positive impact on grassroots cricket in Mumbai while attending the final in Mumbai on Thursday.

Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School emerged champions in the Boys’ U-14 and Al-Barkat Malik Muhammad Islam English School were triumphant in the Boys’ U-16 category, while defending champions Shardashram Vidyamandir took the trophy home in the Girls’ U-15 category of the MI Junior Inter School Cricket Tournament for 2025.

The final was also graced by officials from the Mumbai Cricket Association. Mhambrey, who was bowling coach of the India team which won the men’s T20 World Cup last year said, “I would like to thank Mumbai Indians and the Maharashtra Cricket Association for organizing such a good tournament. The kids get to play in some of the most iconic maidans of Mumbai, so MI Junior providing top class facilities to kids so young is truly commendable. Speaking from personal experience, I never had access to such great venues and facilities when I was that young. I hope some of the kids go on to play at the senior level and learn from this experience.”

The second phase of the tournament, MI Junior Rising stars, which will get underway on Friday, will feature the top performers from the first stage who have been segregated in four boys and two girls’ teams.
