Rohit, Bumrah entertain fans on Instagram

By Mumbai Indians

With the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic having put the entire country in lockdown mode, a lot of cricketers have been engaging with their fans through social media.

On Wednesday, it were two of Mumbai Indians' fan favourites, skipper Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah who went LIVE on Instagram. Both had a conversation with regards to the Indian Premier League, their activities during quarantine alongside some intervention from Yuzvendra Chahal and Rishabh Pant in the comments section of the LIVE session.

Here, we take you through some of the interesting topics that were discussed between the two.

Workout during quarantine

With the ongoing quarantine, workout has certainly become an issue, especially for the cricketers. Rohit asked Bumrah how he was going through his workout process. The fast bowler asserted that he got a program from Paul Chapman, Strength and Conditioning coach for Mumbai Indians.

"We still have a lot at our disposal like Resistance bands and bodyweight exercises. I took a program from our trainer Paul Chapman for jumps, squats, lunges, push-ups, so with the addition of supersets, he has increased the repetitions. So now trying to manage with that. Obviously, running isn't an option unless you don't have a treadmill."

Samaira Imitating Boom

There was a special guest that intervened during the interaction. Rohit's daughter Samaira went on to imitate Bumrah's bowling action. The skipper later revealed that Bumrah was the first cricketer she ever imitated.

Rishabh Pant has a challenge

During the interaction, wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant asked Rohit for a sixes challenge between them. As Bumrah brought this up to him, Rohit had a hilarious response for the youngster.

Yuzvendra Chahal segment

Yuzvendra Chahal had a question for us - if were missing him. The wrist-spinner was a part of the MI squad from 2011 to 2013.

Rohit jokingly told that the message would be passed onto the RCB camp. He stated that if MI were losing, maybe they would've missed him but that wasn't the case.

As Chahal tried to pull Rohit's leg further, the captain and the pacer made a strategy against him if he walked out to bat. Bumrah made plans to bowl bodyline and also give it a shot by moving around the wicket. As for Rohit, he decided to set up a Test match field for the leg spinner. Rohit also told Bumrah to make Chahal play an entire over.

Bowling with Trent Boult and addition of new cricketers

Mumbai Indians added Trent Boult to their bowling ranks during the trading window. The thought of watching Bumrah and Boult don the new ball was an exciting prospect. Rohit asked the pacer about the same.

"Back when Boult was playing for Delhi, we had a conversation about bowling slower deliveries. Now, recently in New Zealand, he was looking forward to bowl at Wankhede where there is bounce and the new ball swings a lot," Bumrah told.

He further spoke about the latest additions to the squad.

"We had some really interesting buys like Chris Lynn and Nathan Coulter-Nile, so we were quite excited because we had a good team."

Having strengthened the bowling and batting lineups, Rohit also sounded quite content with the overall squad.

"Seriously, I was very much looking forward to this because we had a lethal bowling combination this time. The batting lineup was already settled and we brought in Lynn as well. So we had covered all our bases this time."

Who was the choreographer of the dance in NZ?

Rohit remarked that the idea to record the dance was of Chahal. While they imitated a similar dance video, he revealed that it was actually him who choreographed it.

When asked why he hid with the cap, Rohit stated the others wanted him to bring some swag and that it was easily visible he was the one.
