Sachin Tendulkar: The balance of the MI squad is really nice
Mumbai Indians Icon Sachin Tendulkar shared his experience on (Dream11) IPL’s El Clasico ahead of the first match of IPL 2020. The former MI skipper is the only cricketer from the franchise to have won the Orange Cap, back in 2010.
Tendulkar spoke to MITV about the rivalry between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, the fanbase of both teams and more.
MI strengthened with the inclusion of Lynn and Coulter-Nile
Both Chris Lynn and Nathan Coulter-Nile were brought by MI in the auction last year. Sachin spoke in detail about both the new additions and how they add balance to the side.
“Chris Lynn, when it comes to those explosive starts, he is tremendous. Nathan Coulter-Nile swinging the ball upfront and then bowling those death overs and also chipping in with his bat. All in all, I think the balance is really nice. Of course, Mumbai Indians as a squad earlier was anyway good but it’s strengthened much more with these two inclusions.”
Both MI and CSK have a strong fanbase
The Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings rivalry has been often referred to as the IPL equivalent of the El Clasico. The Master Blaster spoke about how both teams had a very strong fanbase which was quite competitive.
“For any tournament to succeed, you need rivalries. Mumbai Indians as well as Chennai Super Kings, we have a very strong fanbase. Both are extremely competitive. There have been occasions where Mumbai Indians were pushed badly in a corner and we have been able to pull through and win that game and the same thing has also happened with Chennai Super Kings.”
