Welcome Aapla Dada Suryakumar Yadav, India’s newest T20I skipper
Aapla Dada Surya continues to dominate the headlines with his sheer excellence for India - a two-time T20I cricketer of the Year (2022, 2023), a T20 World Cup-winning catch in the final that will be remembered for generations, and now, the Indian T20I skipper.
From being a standout performer in 2022 (1164 runs), 2023 (733 runs), and the 2024 T20 World Cup (199 runs) to now being handed the baton from Rohit Sharma after India's T20 World Cup triumph in June 2024, Suryakumar Yadav's journey to the T20I skipper role is a testament to his hard work and dedication.
While this is another feather in Surya's cap, captaining India in T20Is is not new to him. His first assignment saw him lead India in the five-match series against Australia at home, which the Men in Blue won 4-1. His overall record reads five wins, two defeats and one N/R in eight outings.
With his competitive spirit, athleticism, opportunistic approach, and modern-day icon status, Suryakumar Yadav is poised to lead India to new heights as a player and captain. Let’s all wish our ‘Mr. 360’ the best on his first assignment as a full-time skipper - the upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka.
