Surya's fifty guides India to victory in first T20I
India started the T20I series with a comprehensive 38-run win over Sri Lanka.
Put to bat first by the hosts, India lost Shaw early. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan put up some important partnerships with Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav in the middle. However, a flurry of wickets restricted India to 164/5 in 20 overs.
As for Sri Lanka, they were under pressure after being reduced to 50/3. Asalanka tried to recover them from the trouble. However, some fantastic death bowling from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar meant Sri Lanka were 39 runs short.
Here are some talking points from the first T20 international between Sri Lanka and India.
Surya hits another half-century
Suryakumar Yadav continued his great form with the bat. Walking out to bat at number four, he batted in full flow alongside Dhawan. With five fours and two sixes, he went on to complete a quickfire fifty from just 34 balls.

SL bowl well in the death overs
India went from 127/3 after 15.1 overs to 164/5 in 20 overs. Hasaranga and Chameera kept it really tight and also picked a couple of wickets each in their four-over quota. SL didn't concede a single boundary in the last two overs.
Asalanka keeps SL in the game
Sri Lanka seemed to be losing their way at 50/3. However, Asalanka batted with great precision to keep them in track of the run-chase. He played a crucial knock of 44 runs from 26 balls.
Game-changing over from Deepak Chahar
With SL on course of the target and 58 runs needed of five overs, Deepak Chahar bowled an outstanding sixteenth over. He conceded just six runs and also took two crucial breakthroughs of an in-form Asalanka and Hasaranga.
