Trent Boult: We came in and bowled as a unit

By Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians registered a thumping ten-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The victory allowed them to storm at the top position on the points table. After reducing CSK to 114/9, openers Quinton de Kock and Ishan Kishan went bonkers with the bat to finish it in style for MI, without losing a single wicket.

Trent Boult who finished with best-match figures of 4/19 was also rewarded the Man of the Match. Stand-in skipper Kieron Pollard was glad about the team performance at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Kieron Pollard: Our new-ball bowlers taking wickets pleases me the most

“Captaincy is a part and parcel of the job, you don't have to be the leader to be a leader. It was a matter of me stepping in and trying to do the best for the team. It was good actually. We wanted to bowl them out under 100 but Sam batted well. What pleases me the most is to see our new ball bowlers taking wickets.

“NRR is discussed quietly in the dressing room. The first aim is to always have two points secured. That Super Over loss was disappointing but it's about bouncing back. For us, it's about enjoying the win and then again coming out fresh after 48 hours.”

Trent Boult: We came in and bowled as a unit

“New franchise. It's been enjoyable. Any cricket in this global situation is exciting. To get out there has been fun. Credit to Bumrah and the other guys, we came in and bowled as a unit. Lucky to get the first over. If it's going to swing it's going to be in the first few balls. Wickets in my opinion are getting slower and drier as the tournament progresses. It comes down to accuracy.”

Ishan Kishan: Enjoy batting with Quinton

“Learning a lot from Quinny. I enjoy batting with him. These kinds of totals are tricky. You don't know whether to go big or deal in singles. This match was really important for us. Playing CSK is never easy. They are an experienced side.”
