Wankhede, Brabourne, DY Patil, MCA: Breaking down the venues for Tata IPL 2022

The Tata IPL 2022 begins later today with the clash between the Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede stadium.

Our home ground is one of four venues in Maharashtra to host the league stages of the Tata IPL 2022.

Each of these four venues have featured in the Tata IPL before. Let’s have a look at the numbers.

Wankhede stadium, Mumbai 

The Wankhede stadium has been ever-present in the Tata IPL.

Over the years, 83 matches have been played in the Tata IPL here, of which teams batting first have won 39 matches while 43 matches have been won by the chasing team. Only one match was a tie.

Highest total: 235/1 by RCB

Brabourne stadium, Mumbai 

The Brabourne stadium in Mumbai has featured in the Tata IPL in the 2010 season and the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Only 11 matches have been played here with six matches won by the team batting first and five won by the chasing team.

Highest total: 212/6 by MI

DY Patil stadium, Navi Mumbai 

The host of the 2010 IPL final, the DY Patil stadium in Nerul, Navi Mumbai has hosted Tata IPL matches in 2008, 2010 and 2011.

Of the 17 matches played here, 7 were won by the team batting first and 10 by the team batting second.

Highest total: 190/7 by Deccan Chargers

MCA stadium, Pune 

The MCA stadium has played host to Tata IPL matches in 2012 and 2013 and then again in the 2015-2018 seasons.

There have been 38 matches here, where the defending team has won 18 times while the chasing team has won 20 matches.
