In the middle of our heartbreaking loss against CSK, team mentor Sachin Tendulkar had a chat with the broadcasters as the stadium reverberated with the famous "SACHIN…….SACHIN" chant.

The Master Blaster acknowledged that it had been a tough season so far for us, but felt that now is the time to get through this as a team.

“Despite the challenging season, the boys have worked as hard as they possibly could, we as MI have raised expectations very high. This is a new and young team, they may take time to settle down but you have to ride together through these phases, stick together as a team and find a solution,” stated Sachin.

Having come close in many games, the Master Blaster knew that it was only a matter of some moments not going our way.

“Every team has gone through this phase in T20 cricket. The format is cruel, the margins are very little, you lose by 2-3 runs and sometimes off the last ball. We need to conquer those crunch moments,” he said.

He also spoke about his role as mentor and what an ideal coach should do.

“I try to give them solutions but guiding youngsters is also about knowing when to not coach and only give them the freedom to express themselves. It’s a young team, they will make mistakes but that’s how they learn. We have to give them the direction for the energy and exuberance they have,” he concluded.

Having someone like SRT in the camp is certainly helpful in this tough phase and the team is better off with his experience.
