Our batting coach Robin Singh spoke to the press ahead of our ninth league clash against the Rajasthan Royals and addressed a few topics.

On being asked about his opinion on our season thus far, Robin admitted it had not been an ideal one.

“We know we have not done well. What we are trying now is to see how we can rectify the situation and finish on a good note,” he said.

Our teenage batters Dewald Brevis and Tilak Varma have been among the shining lights in the season and Robin heaped praise on them.

“Dewald and Tilak have played exceptionally well. Tilak, especially, has shown great maturity - it’s difficult to do that in your first season. It’s important to be yourself as a young player,” he stated.

A few concerns were raised over the form of our keeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who has not in his best form right now after having hit two half-centuries in our first two matches.

“We have spoken to Ishan about a few things he could improve on. We revisited the games with him and we are hoping he gets back to the form he started with,” revealed Robin.

The batting coach also was confident that skipper Rohit Sharma would soon bounce back.

“A batter’s form is an individual thing. Rohit has put in a lot of time in training, we have addressed what he needs to do. He knows his responsibilities and I am sure he will come back stronger,” he felt.

The batting coach also stressed on the importance of consistently being good through a game, which he thought was the most crucial thing in the T20 format.

“We have not performed together as a team. We have done well in bits and pieces in games, you have to be consistent throughout in a T20 game. We have been hoping to do that, the CSK game we got very close. We are ready to finish on a high, we still have the hunger to win and make sure we make the team proud,” concluded Robin.

Despite a difficult season, the team seems to be in an upbeat mood and we hope the energy translates to the field when we take on RR on April 30th!
