Ishan Kishan - India’s Test player #307. Much-awaited, much-deserved!

By Mumbai Indians

Six months. That is the time duration in the time glass that Ishan Kishan stared at for a well-deserved promotion: Test squad to Test debutant for India. It comes full circle for a player who has always confessed his admiration of playing in the Whites.

I love playing with the red ball. There is a bit of swing, there is sledging and lots of time [there is] no pressure to score runs. The situations are sometimes easy and sometimes tough. So I enjoy all those scenarios in the Ranji Trophy,” said Ishan in a conversation with Shubman Gill following the former’s maiden Test selection ahead of the 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy.

However, in particular, Kishan’s father - Pranav Kumar Pandey - had the ambitious dream for his son to don the whites for India.

“I broke the news to my family. My father was super pumped and he said, ‘Aise hi mehnat karna hai, aise hi practice karni hai (Keep working hard like this, keep practising like this),” Ishan recalled.

The long wait has ended, but it was the fruit of all the efforts in the yards of domestic cricket for Jharkhand. You need to watch the blockbuster show our I-shan-daar player put on for Jharkhand against Delhi in 2016/17. Smashing doors and windows was something we witnessed in the Ishanverse. Now, with a new refined superhero suit, a new film - ‘Pocket Dynamo: Rise of the Test Warrior’ has been released globally tonight at Windsor Park in Dominica.

Paltan, join us in sending our love and best wishes to India’s Test Player #307: Ishan Pranav Kumar Pandey Kishan.
