The Q is done. That’s sorted. But this is where the fun starts. Via Vadodara, Bengaluru and Lucknow, we’ve circled our way into MI home, MI den, MI city, Aamchi Mumbai! The business end of the WPL is here in the city that means business.

It’s a clash with our western neighbours, who are in a similar boat as us. Here’s what the equation is: The Gujarat Giants and the Mumbai Indians are both on eight points, and have both qualified for the playoffs. Finishing first in the league stage would mean a direct entry into the Final. Finishing second or third would mean having to play out an Eliminator. MI have two games left in the league stage. For GG, this is their last. Both teams are on eight points. The Delhi Capitals, who’re topping the table, are on ten. A big win here for the Giants could take them to the top of the table, given Mumbai also lose their next game. Two wins for MI, or one big one in either game with a not-so-big-a-loss in the other, should be enough for them to top the league.

This is seriously exciting. What’s more is our much-envied record over the Gujarat Giants, an unbeaten 5-0 streak stretching across three seasons. Let’s make it 6-0!
