WPL weekly star-tracker (Oct 9): 8 consecutive POTMs, Hayley Matthews, you legend!
Another week of records tumbling left, right and center. And who else, but our inhouse legend, Hayley Matthews being right in the middle of it all. As if six Player of the Match awards in a row wasn’t a big deal already, she went a step ahead last week and made it seven. And as if seven wasn’t unimaginable already, she’s made it eight! That’s not all, read on for your weekly dose of MI ..
Matthews scaling unreal peaks
99*(74) in the first T20I, 132(64) in the second, and 79(40) in the third. In one of the finest displays of batting in the history of cricket, Hayley’s just been smashing records for fun. It was a single-handed knock in the final T20I of the series against the Aussies, but she couldn’t quite take her team over the line, losing the series 2-1, but in the process, became the number one ranked T20I all-rounder in the world.

Rain puts Chloe’s 4/15 in vain
In a rainy East London that washed out the first T20I between South Africa and New Zealand without a ball being bowled, the second one lasted just one innings. And it was enough for our ace, Chloe Tryon, to wreak havoc. With four wickets for just 15 runs, a run-out, and a catch to dismiss fellow MI-Kerr Amelia, she had the Protea Women on top. Alas, there’s only so much her fire could do against the rain!

Not much for Mumbai-Kerr to do in washed out week
A short stay for Melie Kerr (3 off 6 balls) in the second T20I against South Africa, before the rain came down. She’s still fresh from that century she scored last week, and it’s not going to be long before she brings her purple patch back.
