Confirmed: IPL 2023 auction to be held on December 23

By Mumbai Indians

Right then, it’s here. It’s confirmed. Get out the calculators, put on your thinking hats, and bring on the banter. The IPL auction for the 2023 season is set to be held in Kochi on December 23, 2022 (Friday).

The groundwork is done. All the franchises have finalized their list of retained players. Each team will also have an additional INR 5 crore to spend at this auction, making the overall purse INR 95 crore. This includes the money left over from their previous auction purse and the value of the players they release.

A total of 991 players have registered for this mini auction, which includes 714 Indian and 277 overseas players. However, even if every franchise were to fill its squad up with 25 players, which is the limit, 87 players have the scope of being bought in the auction (of which up to 30 players can be overseas players).
