Hyderabad gears up for decider
Plot:
It can’t get better than this – the series is leveled at 1-1 and it has come down to a decider in Hyderabad. The Indian team carried their ODI form into the T20Is and won the first one, but the Aussies bounced back in the second game. Hyderabad will host this cracking finale and both the teams will be raring to go at each other.
Jason Behrendorff sprung rabbits out of his hat and let his ball do the talking with his 4-fer, as the Indian team struggled against him. The Aussies didn’t let the momentum slip away and bowled India out for a low total. They were clinical with the bat too and chased down the target without much difficulty. India will consider it as a rare off-day and will look to come back strongly in this decider. Australia will be looking for a repeat and will want to end their tour on a high.
Australian captain David Warner will look to use all his experience in Hyderabad, a venue where he has fair bit of experience having played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Virat Kohli’s men have the right balance in their line-up to win matches and they will totally back themselves to wrap up the series and continue with their brilliant form. It will be interesting to see how Australia back-up their performance after a convincing victory in the previous game. The Indian team will start off as favourites yet again but this is one format where the most unpredictable things happen and the final is all spiced up for an intriguing clash.
Stage:
Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium:
The venue already staged a mega final earlier this year – the IPL final. However, the ground will host its first ever T20 international. It will be the 19th Indian venue to host a T20I game. Going by the IPL record, this ground usually favours the spinners but there have been high-scoring games too. It shall be interesting to see which team applies themselves quickly here, and the toss could be as vital as it was in Guwahati.
Acts:
Bhuvneshwar Kumar vs David Warner:
Both Bhuvneshwar Kumar and David Warner will be up against each other in this game where they have played so many matches together at the same venue. Bhuvneshwar has troubled Warner in international games which will make their face-off fascinating. The Aussie skipper may have a game-plan against the swing bowler, but will it pay off?
Rohit Sharma vs Jason Behrendorff:
The Aussie pacer was the wrecker-in-chief in the last game as the Indian batting line-up failed to get going against him. Rohit will try to put some early pressure on Behrendorff with his aggressive stroke-play, but he will need to be wary of the swinging ball.
Jasprit Bumrah vs Aaron Finch:
Finch has been in pretty good form but so is Bumrah. The yorker specialist will use his skills to stop Finch from getting a big score. Both the players are terrific in T20 cricket, and it should be an interesting battle. Finch has previously played for Sunrisers Hyderabad and may boast of knowing a thing or two about the conditions here.
