India to cinch the T20 Series?
Kolkata will host the second T20I between India and the West Indies on the 18th of February. India were on top in all departments during the opening game and will look to do more of the same. The Windies played well and will look at ironing out a few issues and to take this series to the third game.
Here are some things to look out for in the second T20I:
Players to Watch:
Rohit was in imperious form during the last game and will want to pick up where he left off. His romance with the Eden Gardens continues. In contrast, his opening partner Ishan Kishan has not looked at his free-flowing best. Captain Hitman continues to back him so he’s bound to come good at some point. Once he does, their opening pair will be dreaded by bowlers. SKY looked at ease during his match-winning cameo. He will want to keep the excellent run of form going.
For the Windies, Pooran finally looked in a better form and got some runs. Mayers and Odean Smith looked good too and are amongst the players we need to be worried about.
Polly Power:
Kieron Pollard returned to the team after missing the last two ODI’s due to injuries and showed glimpses of the damage he can do. He will find form eventually and we need to be wary of that since he’s capable of winning games single-handedly as he has done for MI several times in the past.
Squad players to get an opportunity?
Avesh Khan shone brightly during last season’s IPL. Rohit reiterated his stance on trying players out in the lead up to the T20 World Cup so we can expect him to feature soon. It will be interesting to see how he does on the international stage.
Rohit also mentioned how unfortunate it was for Shreyas Iyer to be missing from the XI because of the combination the team needs so he might be drafted in as well.
It promises to be an exciting contest. It will be raining sixes again. Let’s hope we whack a few more than the Windies. 7 PM on the 18th Feb is when it will all begin. Don’t miss it.
