MI-ssion IPL 2023 from Aamchi Mumbai’s social lens
The season’s over. Even the post-season buzz is nearly done. But the hangover is still fresh. IPL 2023 was a spectacle with so much for us Paltan to cherish. So here we are, going down the social media lane to fetch out the best moments on the ground, were celebrated online!
What do we mean? On one hand, the word ‘BELIEVE’ was richly ingrained in the veins of the Class of 2023, as they gave us moments of joy, angst and glimpses of a strong future. We went against the odds at a certain point in the tournament, and carried that momentum to qualifying for our 10th IPL playoffs. Yes, this is the other ‘front’ - social media.
Let’s start with one of our very own, Aapla Dada Surya. ESA Day, captaincy debut, 19000+ girls being part of something special. It doesn't get any more heartwarming..
#ESADay, when we celebrate the work that’s done through the ESA initiative that empowers young girls and supports their dreams and future. 👏

Wankhede will be 19000 times louder tomorrow. 💙#OneFamily @ril_foundation pic.twitter.com/iKrxs2oKgU
Piyush Chawla turned back the clock: from reaching a personal milestone of 250 T20 wickets to finishing as MI’s leading wicket taker in IPL 2023. Each step towards the stadium oozed of a wicket, at the very least.
The Tendulkar era finds a successor! And who better than the numero uno, the GOD of Cricket and a doting father in Sachin Tendulkar congratulating Arjun on his debut.
There was an outpour of love and affection for our Hitman on his birthday this year, but this one was super special.
#RohitSharma For the most respectable and inspirational person I know, I’m sending only the very best birthday wishes today! May your special day this year bring you everything you want and more, as you truly deserve the best to come your way. 💙❤️ Drushil Chauhan💙❤️@ImRo45… https://t.co/ygX4OWdb9B

Speaking of birthdays, our icon SRT hit a half-century in real life. Our country’s golden jewel was honoured with special masks and a trademark chant in the 10th over of the first innings during the MI vs PBKS game on April 22.

The outpouring of love continued off the field as well!

All through the season, the support from the MI Paltan has been phenomenal, and it continues to soar to greater heights… like this one, literally.
So I’ve officially set 2 records today-
— Rishi Popawala (@RPopawala) April 19, 2023
1. I became the first person to take a Mumbai Indians flag to the top of Switzerland as well as Europe - Mt. Jungfraujoch
2. This is the highest a Mumbai Indians flag has ever been @mipaltan @MIFansArmy @LoyalSachinFan @SPORTYVISHAL pic.twitter.com/m3zH8LGmIW
As in recent years, we have welcomed content creators experience what it feels to be a part of the Mumbai Indians' fan base. This year, it was no different.
Try finding a moment better than Akash Madhwal’s 5/5 against LSG this season. The moment of history - the first cricketer to take five wickets in an IPL playoff match - is captured here.

Cameron Green’s IPL 2023 season was a clear indicator that he is ready to fill in the boots of Kieron ‘Llord’ Pollard at MI. If anything, his hunger to help MI beat SRH - with a 47-ball 100 - brought back memories of how the legendary West Indian won games in the iconic Blue and Gold.
As a matter of fact, Green and Suryakumar Yadav both registered maiden 100s this season with a helping hand from each other. A Paltan fan reminded us that.

And of course, let’s end this with a special quote from our special captain, Rohit Sharma, on what awaits us in the MI future.
