12:30 AM: Arrrghh! Sadly, it ends with an 18-run defeat. Our chase began with solid efforts from Ishan Kishan (40) and Tilak Varma (32), but it wasn't our night as we couldn't capitalize after the powerplay especially against spin. And now, we return home for our final game against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday. It's time for us to go back, introspect on the performance today and train for our last outing in front of our Blue and Gold army at the Wankhede Stadium. Paltan, it's our final hurrah of 2024, and let's make it a one to smile! Goodbye.

12:25 AM: THE FINAL OVER! SUSPENSE BUILDS. We need 22, and Naman Dhir, who smashed a couple of sixes in the previous over is on strike. It's steep, but let's keep the faith...

12:23 AM: The last eight balls and 27 to win. LETS BELIEVE! We can do this, Paltan!

12:20 AM: An unfortunate mis-communication and Nehal Wadhera is run out by KKR wicket-keeper Phil Salt.

12:09 AM: We concede two wickets as the hard-hitting duo of Captain Hardik and Tim David to Varun Chakaravarthy (overs 11.4) and Andre Russell (overs 12.1). Now, its upto Nehal Wadhera and Tilak Varma to help us make a comeback in the chase.

11:59 PM: Ouch, another wicket falls. SKY loses his wicket after he lifts Andre Russell's slower short ball to Ramandeep Singh, who was waiting at deep square.

11:46 PM: Rohit Sharma departs for 19. Varun Chakaravarthy's delivery takes a thick edge off RO's attempt for a conventional sweep. It carried to Narine at short fine.

11:42 PM: We lose our first wicket. Ishan Kishan (40) goes for a slogsweep off Sunil Narine's delivery but his shot falls short into the hands of Rinku Singh at deep midwicket.

11:30 PM: 50 runs on the board and MI are 59/0 at the end of the powerplay, with pocket dynamo Ishan adding 39 runs to the cause.

11:20 PM: The opening partnership of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan looks solid at the moment, with 31 runs on the board in 3 overs. Let's build on this!!!

10:52 PM: Ishan Kishan completed his 100th catch in T20 cricket by aiding in Rinku Singh's dismissal off a BOOM BOOM delivery. And, at the end of the first innings, MI reduced KKR to 157/7 in 20 overs. Piyush Chawla (2/28) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/39) led from the front with the ball and now, the MUM-Boys will step out to confidently chase down the 158-run target with precision and ease.

10:31 PM: Two wickets in the span of five minutes. First, an electric Tilak Varma was spot on with his throw to run out Nitish Rana (33) with the finest of margins. And no sooner than that, PC added another to his tally of big fish wickets - with Andre Russell bowing out for 24 from 14 balls.

Nothing is impossible for PC

9:40 PM: It was raining earlier in the game, and now, it is raining down wickets in the City of Joy. Anshul Kamboj bowled a short length nippling delivery that took advantage of Shreyas Iyer (7) as he aimed to hit towards the leg side. However, the ball kissed the outside of the leg stump and reduced KKR to 40/3 in 4.1 overs.

9:23 PM: No one noticed, neither the batter or the crowd... but Jasprit Bumrah has BOWLED OUT Sunil Narine (0). An angling delivery that bamboozled the off stump of an astonished and still Narine. WOW. JAS. WOW!

9:20 PM: Nuwan Thushara opens the floodgates. The Sri Lankan's outswinger teased Phil Salt (6) to slog it high, but it landed in the hands of Anshul Kamboj at fine leg. And you know what? That's a fine start.

9:00 PM: TOSS TIME! We are bowling first at the Eden Gardens. And, we play with the same team that triumphed against Sunrisers Hyderabad in our last outing.

THE UPDATE YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!!!

8:10 PM: Furthermore, we have been told that the next inspection will be at 8:45 PM. Let's hope for the best and we can see the MI Boys in action.

7:50 PM: And here comes one positive UPDATE: The covers are coming off. Let's hope the ground is in good shape and we get an entertaining game of cricket today. *Fingers crossed*

7:35 PM: In the meantime, our bowling coach gave some insights on the type of bowling he look forwards to in the coming years in the game. And it comes as no surprise that the legendary bowler would say "yorker".

"When I look at the next 5 years, the most important ball is the Yorker; it doesn't matter the line. Bowlers have to learn to be consistent, and this new generation guys always happy to do workload management, that's why they don't get that control on each delivery. I hope might be they have to change their mindset by thinking with more quantity (they have to manage two batters during the match), and then they can get that quality."

7:30 PM: Update:- we are still waiting for a breakthrough and the weather to settle down.

7:00 PM: But here is an early twist. The weather gods have made an entrance and thus, the toss is expected to be delayed. Stay tuned.

This is our final game on the road, and as some may know, today's venue is a happy hunting ground. Why? Read more in our preview.
