MI Junior: Soham, Sagar, Atharva and others shine for their teams

Soham Sonavane, Sagar Gupta and Atharva Shelake and others produced match-winning performances for their respective teams in the ongoing MI junior inter-school cricket tournament on Tuesday.

Soham Sonavane ran riot against Cambridge School (Kandivali East), taking a whopping 8 wickets (8-13) for Modern English School, Chembur in an MI Junior Boys U-14 match.

Batting first, Modern English scored a gigantic 543 runs in just 34 overs, thanks to a marvelous unbeaten ton by Kanav Saini (172*), before Soham Sonavane worked his magic to bowl out Cambridge School for 31 runs.

In the Under 16 category, Sagar Gupta and Atharva Shelake starred for Sharadashram Vidyamandir English Medium High School, scoring 144 and 124 respectively, to guide them to a mammoth 479. St Francis Dassisi High School were then knocked over for just 81 runs.

In a Boy's U-14 match, Chatrabhuj Narsee School, Kandivali beat Anjuman Islam, Turbe by just one run after bowling them out for 33 runs, courtesy Aarav Bhatia 5-2.

In another match of the same category, Hillspring International School, Tardeo suffered a three run loss after getting bowled out for 123 against IES VN Sule English School, Dadar after Rehan Mulani 's vital performance (3-9).

Meanwhile, ANJUMAN-I-ISLAM ALLANA ENGLISH beat Swami Vivekanand (Borivali) by six wickets after Abhigyan Kundu hit a brilliant century 126 to chase the total of 167 runs in a Boy's U-16 match.

Another Boy's U-16 match saw Jamnabai Narsee School suffer a six wicket loss against  JV Parekh International School (Vile Parle), courtesy Prath Patel's impressive century (117).

Amaan Sayyad's vital 3-13 including hat--trick led Al Barkat Mallik Muhammad Islam English School to 166 run win over IES High School, Navi Mumbai after bowling them out for 66 in chase of 232 in a Boy's U-14 match.

In another match of the same category, Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English Medium School beat Hiranandani Foundation School, Thane by 166 runs after Aayush Shinde's superb 81. 

Elsewhere, Kiyan's outstanding 6-38 guided Chatrabhuj Narsee Memorial School, Vile Parle to a 57 run win over St Xaviers High School, Mira Road in an U-16 match.  

In another Boy's U-16 match, CARDINAL GRACIAS HIGH SCHOOL, BANDRA beat ST STANISLAUS HIGH SCHOOL, BANDRA by four wickets, courtesy great performances from Aaditya Salekar (5-34) and Yuvraj Gupta (58 not out).

PODAR INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, POWAI CBSE beat St.John The Baptist High School by 8 wickets in a Boy's U-14 match after Aryan Patel's 3-19.

The other Boys U-14 match saw Don Bosco High School, Matunga hammer JBCN International School, Borivali by 10 wickets. Vedant Chile (5-9), Aryan Gavankar (29*) and Umang Rathod (27*) were the main performers for Don Bosco .

In chase of 138 run chase, Jamnabai Narsee School, Juhu were bowled out for 120 runs against VK Krishna Menon Academy, Borivali after Rinkesh Tiwari picked 3-12 in a Boy's U-14 match.

Balpreet Singh Saini smashed a fine century (189*) to lead Vasant Vihar High School to a 200-run win over Rizvi Springfield CBSE in another match of the same category.

After posting a total of 346/6 courtesy Yash Pujari century (114*),  R. V. Nerker Secondary  bowled out RBK Global, Bhayandar for 145 with Priyam Patil taking fifer (5-22) in another match.
