MI Junior Rising Star 2025: Aarya Wajge’s all-round brilliance powers Team A’s 88-run triumph

By Mumbai Indians

In what turned out to be a rather one-sided contest, Team A came out trumps as they beat Team B by a dominant margin of 88 runs in a league match of the Mumbai Indians Junior Boys Rising Star Tournament in Mumbai on Wednesday.

After being put into bat, Team A started proceedings in a positive manner with a 57-run opening stand between Ashira Patil and skipper Tanisha Sharma before Tanisha was dismissed for 18. However, Ashira kept the momentum going as she forged another half-century partnership with Aarya Wajge before returning to the pavilion with 49 runs to her name. Eventually, it was Wajge’s prolific unbeaten knock of 44 that powered Team A to a formidable total of 163 runs in their stipulated 21 overs.

In response to a towering target of 164 runs, Team B never seemed to be in command as they failed to build any substantial partnerships and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. On the bowling front, Avani Vengurlekar spearheaded the attack as she picked up a hat-trick, while Rajasi Nagose (2/1), Bhargavi Patil (2/9) and Wajge (2/10) chipped in with 2 wickets apiece to bowl Team B out for just 75 runs and to ensure a thoroughly deserved victory for Team A.

Brief Scores:

Girls: Team A 163/3 in 21 overs (Ashira Patil 49, Aarya Wajge 44 n.o; Swaraa Jadhav 2/17) bt Team B all out 75 in 20.2 overs (Avani Vengurlekar 3/1, Rajasi Nagose 2/1, Bhargavi Patil 2/9, Aarya Wajge 2/10).
