MI Junior Rising Star 2025 Final: Century opening-stand powers Team C title triumph

By Mumbai Indians

In what turned out to be an anti-climactic finale, Team C emerged victorious as they decimated Team A to register a 10-wicket victory in the Final of the Mumbai Indians Junior Boys Rising Star Tournament.

In another one-sided contest, Team A demolished Team C by a thumping margin of 119-runs in the Finals of the Mumbai Indians Junior Girls Rising Star Tournament.

After electing to bat first, Team A were in a spot of bother as they lost both openers in the 2nd over of the match. However, skipper and tournament top-scorer Abdur Rahman weathered through the storm, top-scoring with a solid knock of 34 runs which involved a crucial 62-run partnership with Praanav Iyengar (28). Soon after the rescue act, Team A lost wickets at an alarming rate as Yuvan Sharma spearheaded the bowling with 4 wickets to his name, while he received admirable support from Nishad Parab’s 3 for 30. With the scoreboard reading 96/8, tail-enders Jshmit Singh (32 n.o) and Anuj Singh (29 n.o) added an invaluable 70 runs to guide Team A to a respectable total of 166 runs.

With the championship up for grabs, Team C made mockery of the 167-run target as they raced to victory, chasing down the total in just 18.3 overs as openers Shaurya Patil and Vedant Bane came out all guns blazing. The duo forged together a water-tight partnership worth 167 runs as Shaurya Patil top-scored with a stellar 80 not out while Vedant Bane had 79 runs to his name, to crown Team C as the Boys Champions.

Batting first in the girls match, skipper Tanisha Sharma led from the front with a marauding century worth 108 runs as she joined forces with the competition’s highest run-getter Ashira Patil, who came agonisingly close to the milestone herself, only to be dismissed for 96. The opening duo of Tanisha and Ashira added a staggering 194 runs as Team A ended their innings at 242 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets.

In response to the towering target of 243, Team B could only salvage a total of 123 runs in their stipulated overs as fine cameos from Vaidai Tanavade (45) and Swarada Bende (32) went in vain.
