Mumbai Indians become first team to secure Playoffs berth
Mumbai Indians have become the first team to qualify for the playoffs in Dream11 IPL 2020.
The defending champions are currently at the first position on the points table with 16 points. With KKR's loss against CSK today, only four teams can now end with 16 points.
With MI being the only side to cross the mark, they become the first in the race to make it into the top four. This will also be the ninth time that the men in Blue and Gold have qualified for the final four.
MI campaign so far
MI started their campaign with a loss against CSK. After defeating KKR in their second fixture, they couldn't get past the Super Over against RCB. Following this, MI recorded five consecutive victories to turn their fortune this season.
The winning run was put to an end by KXIP but the match went on till the second Super Over which was the first time in the history of IPL. MI followed it up with a ten-wicket win over CSK but were defeated by RR. However, they came back strongly against RCB in the last game to secure their eighth victory.
MI now has two fixtures left in the league stage. They play against Delhi Capitals in Dubai followed by SRH in Sharjah. For MI, Quinton de Kock has been the leading run-scorer with 392 runs while Jasprit Bumrah has the highest wickets with 20 scalps.
