Rohit Sharma: Hope to rectify mistakes and come back better

By Mumbai Indians

Chennai Super Kings started their Dream11 IPL campaign with a five-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. In the process, they also ended MI’s five-match winning streak against them.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma felt that his team was 15-20 runs short and couldn’t capitalize on the good start. However, he vowed to come back stronger.

We made a few mistakes and hope to rectify them

“Our batsmen didn't carry on once they got in like Faf du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu did. But credit to CSK bowlers. We were 15-20 runs short. We wanted to start well as it's very crucial in this tournament. Few things to learn from this game. We made a few mistakes and hope to rectify them and come better in the next game.”

The pitch got slightly better to bat on as the game progressed

“It was completely different from what we're used to, having so many fans in the stadium but we were prepared for it. We got to understand and adapt to the pitches. It got slightly better to bat on as the game progressed. It's not just about coming and hitting the shots since the opposition is reading you. Few of our batsmen got in but couldn't continue for long.”

Mumbai Indians play their next encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders on 23rd September at the same ground.
