Rohit Sharma: I am confident to play the pull-shot
Mumbai Indians registered their first win in UAE as they defeated KKR by 49 runs at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Rohit Sharma led from the front as he scored 80 runs from just 54 balls. He was also awarded the Man of the Match for his spectacular performance with the bat.
The Mumbai Indians skipper spoke about MI’s first win in UAE, his love for pull-shots and the strong bowling attack comprising Bumrah, Boult and Pattinson.
I was keen to make it count
“We have executed our plans well today. We knew the wicket was pretty good to bat on and there was a bit of dew. I was quite keen to make it count after missing out in the last game. It’s not easy to stay and bat in these conditions. Once you're in, it's your responsibility to bat as deep as possible.”
I am confident to play the pull-shot
“I back myself to play the pull shot, quite confident to pull it off as I have practised well. Very happy with the performance of the entire squad. I remember all of the pull-shots I hit. We haven’t played much cricket over the last six months.”
Having bowlers like these makes my job easier
“We had picked the bowling attack looking at Wankhede, didn’t know IPL was going to happen in UAE. We wanted the pace attack to be strong. Try and get as many wickets as possible. In the first game it was seaming easily in the first six overs. Having bowlers like these makes my job easier.”
