Warner played a great innings: Tim Southee
After losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad, Tim Southee talks about how the match wasn’t the ideal result he was expecting after taking 3 wickets for the Mumbai Indians. “It wasn’t an ideal result. It was nice to contribute but it would have been nicer to contribute to a winning performance. But Sunrisers Hyderabad played well. Warner played a great innings all the way through.”
He feels the reason for an average batting performance by the team is because of losing early wickets at the top. “I think it’s the way we play. It is always tight when you lose early wickets but when you get off to a flyer, it makes things a lot easier.” Having said so he believes the team will bounce back and turn around things in the tournament. “We got another game in 2 days’ time. In a tournament like this you can’t hang on to performances that have gone bad. You got to learn from them. And push it aside and look forward to the next one. Guys that are in our squad are quality players, couple of them missed out but they are here for a reason. And it’s just a matter of time before they start scoring runs again.”
Today’s match saw Rohit taking a back seat and letting Martin Guptill open with Parthiv Patel. This was a radical change in the batting lineup. He isn’t certain if the change is bad for the team or not. “It has only been one game so it’s hard to tell. We got some good batsmen and we do whatever is best for team. Plus we also need to factor in on the pitch that we are going to face.”
