After our 18-run loss against the Lucknow Super Giants, skipper Rohit Sharma answered a few questions in the post-match interview.

When asked by the broadcasters where the game was lost, Rohit did not feel it could be attributed to a particular reason.

“It’s hard to put it to one particular situation, I thought 199 was chaseable here, we just could not string partnerships today. That is important when you are chasing such a total,”  felt Rohit.

Jasprit Bumrah, one of our best bowlers on the day, bowled only one over in the powerplay and Rohit noted that with LSG’s batting line-up, it was important to keep him for the death overs.

“We try to do what we feel as a team, we put the team before the individual. LSG bat quite deep, so it’s important to hold the key bowlers for the back end. We know how many runs were scored here. We try to keep Bumrah for the back end, he bowled pretty well but the others need to pull up their socks a bit,” he stated.

On the team’s changing playing XI’s, Rohit admitted that we were trying to find the best combination.

“We try to find the combination best suited to the opposition and conditions. We cannot play the same XI when you are not winning games. We are trying to understand the right combination. When you lose, it’s easy to point out that changes are being made,” said Rohit.

And he also gave credit to opposing skipper KL Rahul, who led the way with a century.“Sometimes you have to applaud the opposition, KL batted brilliantly till the end. That is something we are missing, we want one of our top-4 to bat long. We don’t want to look too much into it, we need to keep our heads high,” he said.

The skipper also admitted that his form is not at it’s best currently but he still backs himself.

“I’m trying to prepare myself the way I do for every game. It’s just not coming off, I take the responsibility of not putting the team in a situation of what they expect from me. I understand my responsibility as a player    and I try to back myself, enjoy the game and do what I have been doing. It’s important to keep looking forward, we have come back before, we will try and come back again,” concluded Rohit.

It was an honest interview from the captain and we hope to turn our fortunes around in the coming games.
