WPL weekly star-tracker (Nov 4): Starring in India and Melbourne colours, the Yastika way

By Mumbai Indians

The scene’s shifted quickly from the World Cup to the Women’s Big Bash League. The Indian domestic season is on in full flow as well. Who’s doing what and where? Let’s hop right in..

India vs New Zealand, ODI series

Harmanpreet Kaur: The skip steals the show! With the series on the line, she pulls out a Harman-special. Clutch. Anchored. Measured. Effective. With a 112-run stand with Smriti Mandhana, her 59-run knock ensured the chase and the series was sealed 2-1!

Yastika Bhatia: She laid the platform. After Shafali Verma fell early, she restored some calm with her 49-ball 35, making sure panic didn’t set in the Indian camp, who were chasing a challenging score of 233. And successfully too!

Women’s Big Bash League

Chloe Tryon (Hobart Hurricanes): In typical Chloe style, she stands out with both bat and ball – 2/19 against Sydney Thunder and a solid 33-ball 35 against the Melbourne Stars.

Shabnim Ismail (Sydney Thunder): Shabnim’s pace and quick Australian pitches, it’s a combo made in heaven. And she’s loving it out there, as seen in her three-wicket spell against the Adelaide Strikers, blowing their top-order away and securing a massive win for Thunder, who currently sit at the top of the points table.

Hayley Matthews (Melbourne Renegades): Her all-round brilliance has officially hit the Aussie shores. 35(23) and 2/21 against Brisbane Heat, followed by 41(27) and 2/21 against Perth Scorchers, already puts her firmly in the reckoning for the tournament’s MVP!

Yastika Bhatia (Melbourne Stars): On October 28th, Yastika Bhatia was winning a game in Ahmedabad for India, and two days later, she was Down Under, smashing it around for the Melbourne Stars. She started off with a 28-ball 36 against the Sydney Sixers, and upped it further with a 46-ball 57 against the Hobart Hurricanes, both leading to massive wins.

Senior Women’s T20 Trophy

Humairaa Kaazi (Mumbai): Talk about setting the tone! Chasing a small target of 62 against Mizoram, she wrapped it up in a hurry, opening the batting, facing 18 balls, smashing six fours and a six in her knock of 34.

Fatima Jaffer (Mumbai): She didn’t have much to do in this round, getting just the one over to bowl against Mizoram. She did decently, 1-0-6-0.

Keerthana B (Tamil Nadu): She gave her side the perfect finish with the bat with a 15-ball 27, but sadly, couldn’t quite get the incision with the ball, as Jammu and Kashmir chased down the target of 126 rather easily.

Saika Ishaque (Bengal): In a massive 115-run over Nagaland, Bengal skipper Saika was at her clinical best. 2.4 overs, a maiden, just one run conceded, and a wicket taken. Oh she’s in some serious form this year!

Priyanka Bala (Bengal): With a nine-ball 11, Priyanka walked in at number four and gave the innings a neat finish as Bengal amassed 157/2.

Jintimani Kalita (Assam): Defending a target of 129 against Delhi, Aapli Jinti did her part to keep things tight at the top, with a spell of 4-0-22-0. Alas, it wasn’t to be for Assam.
